April 17, 2010

Upon my arrival home from the CrossFit Games Regional Qualifiers in Jersey, my training has been, to say the least, sporadic and lacking intensity. Taking two weeks off afterwards certainly added a layer of rust, but despite my desire to start hitting it hard again always seemed to get derailed attempt after attempt in the gym.

Saturday, however, helped get my mind focused again. My boy Ron drove 3 hours to the Pain Depot to train and get some instruction. I had devised a program to help him get ready for the Tough Mudder race in May and I decided to partake in the day's WOD, "The Bear."

5 sets for max weight used:
Power Clean x 1
Front Squat x 1
Push Press Overhead to back rack x 1
Back Squat x 1
Push Press Overhead to front rack x 1

Repeat sequence 7 times; weight cannot rest on ground in set
Rest EXACTLY 5 min b/t sets

Ron: Max weight: 115#
Dave: Max Weight: 135#

This was a good test for me and I was happy that my strength hadn't taken too much of a dip. I finished with some left in the tank and the promise for more good times ahead!

Unfortunatley, I only saw this video AFTER we completed the WOD! I would have tried to push way harder!
