April 18, 2010

I guess in a lot of ways it's been hard to move on in my training because I feel as if I had some unfinished business in Jersey...

I've always prided myself in being a hard worker in and out of the gym, and while there may be a lot more physically gifted athletes in the world, no one will out work me. With a month having passed since the regionals, I had some time to reflect on my experiences and assess for myself if I really did work as hard as I could have, or even should have.

I really can't say that I didn't give it all, however the second event on Saturday really smacked me up side the head with a dose of reality. Double unders had always been a challenge and seeing them in a WOD certainly didn't give me a ton of confidence, but I had practiced them and gotten a pretty good rhythm down.

Unfortunatley, the doubel unders really coost me a great deal of time and whiel I was able to finish the event before the time expired, I was out of the running for a spot to compete in Albany.

The event was:
10 Front squat
20 double unders
8 Front squat
30 double unders
6 Front squat
40 double unders
4 Front squat
50 double unders
2 Front squat
60 double unders

My original time was 12:07.

I decided to "redo" the WOD today and did it in 7:29. No real purpose other than just knowing that I could finish with a much better time. As my friend said, what was done was done.

Now it's time to get ready for next year...
